New Apple Airport Update, Oh My!

In a surprise move, Apple issued the 7.8.1 update for the Airport Apple 802.11N networking line of products-it’s first in over 18 months. Even more compelling is the fact that the Airport WIFI hardware product line was discontinued in April 2018. It includes support for Apple Airplay 2, vital to folks who connect an Airport Express to an old reciever to sync music to HomePods or Apple TV 4s. It also includes a slew of security fixes. Apple promised to continue offering service and parts for AirPort Base stations for the next five years, which includes firmware updates to address security issues. Pretty amazing service.
